Designation Updates - Effective September 1, 2015

The IAIP Board of Directors created an Ad Hoc Committee to review the current IAIP designation requirements, fees and renewal process. They were tasked with measuring how the designations compare and rank with the other industry designations and researched ways to improve the recognition of the designations within the insurance and risk management industry. Based on the recommendations from the Ad Hoc Committee, the board approved the following updates to the designations:

Diversified Advanced Education (DAE) Application Changes - When applying for the DAE designation, candidates must complete the IAIP Education, IAIP Leadership, IAIP Event Participation, Industry Education and Ethics requirements anytime within the most recent five years to application date.

Certified Insurance Industry Professional (CIIP) Changes - The Ad Hoc Committee provided multiple recommendations for the CIIP designation and the following were approved by the board:

  • In an effort to maintain consistency with the elimination of gender references, the Ad Hoc Committee recommended to only award the CIIP designation effective September 1, 2015 and no longer offer the CPIW and CPIM designations.

  • Current Members holding the CPIW and CPIM designation can maintain use and will not be required to transition to the CIIP designation.

  • Applicants of the CIIP designation must be a member of IAIP for three (3) continuous years which is a change from 3 or more cumulative years.

  • The designation will require a renewal every 3 years which will include completing an IAIP education requirement and a renewal fee. Additional details forthcoming.

Continued Membership Requirement- The board approved the recommendation for continued IAIP membership in order to maintain the use of the DAE and CIIP/CPIW/CPIM designations.
