If you’re like most members in IAIP, the insurance profession has given you a lot. You’ve developed valuable relationships within the member community, benefited from quality education, and developed both professionally and personally. What Makes an Effective IAIP Volunteer?

Volunteers should have:

  • A positive attitude and high degree of flexibility.
  • Knowledge relevant to the task force’s purpose.
  • A dedication to furthering IAIP’s mission.
  • A desire to develop personal leadership expertise.
  • A willingness to learn from others.
  • A passion for innovation and new ideas.
What Does IAIP Expect from its Volunteers?

Volunteers must:

  • Be an IAIP member.
  • Commit to participating actively in all scheduled meetings.
  • Notify chair when they are unable to attend.
  • Act as an ambassador for IAIP in the insurance community.
  • Actively contribute to the discussions to further advance the mission and vision of IAIP.
  • Support the initiatives developed by the task force and complete action items as agreed upon.
What is the Time Commitment?

Task forces are year-round groups with ongoing responsibilities. On average, each task force meets once per month via conference call during business hours. You will have the opportunity to contribute to projects and deliverables that are discussed during the meetings which will require some additional time for completion. The goal is quick, efficient, effective use of volunteer time.

What is the Task Force Leadership Structure?

Each task force is led by a chair or co-chairs that guides the task force to meet the objectives identified by the Board of Directors. The action steps to meet these goals are developed by the task force. The chair(s) are responsible for setting the monthly agenda, sharing meeting minutes with the task force volunteers, submitting a mid-year and final task force report to the Board of Directors, and actively engaging all task force volunteers.

A representative from the Executive Committee supports each task force to assist with presenting any board topics or discussions originating from the task force during board meetings. They will follow up with task force chair(s) following board meetings to reconfirm task force’s objectives, share discussion items related to their area, and discuss options for collaboration with other task forces.

A staff liaison is also available to support each task force by providing the management perspective on initiatives, identifying tasks that management can cover or is already completing, and assisting where additional volunteer support is needed.
