Convention Service Project: Tote-a-Towel

Each year the members of IAIP community collaborate on a service project, and this year the Convention Task Force has chosen Bridging, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the greater Twin Cities. It is the largest furniture bank in North America. Driven by volunteers and donations of furniture and household goods from the community, Bridging has furnished over 60,000 homes since 1987.

What would you do without a towel? There are thousands of families and individuals who face this difficult situation every day. Through the effective reuse of donated items, Bridging improves lives by providing quality furniture and household goods to those transitioning out of homelessness and poverty in the Minneapolis area. Every year, Bridging serves about 4,000 local households (nearly 12,000 individuals).

OUR GOAL:
Bridging would like to provide a towel set to every person they serve. That means they need over 300 sets each week! Our goal is to provide 900 towels.Using last year’s attendance, that would mean we need an average of about three towels per attendee. New and gently used items accepted.

WHAT CAN YOU DONATE TO BRIDGING?
• Bath towels: hand, wash and bath/beach sizes
• Kitchen towels: dish towel/cloth

WHERE CAN YOU DROP OFF YOUR DONATIONS?
