Cheryl Blair has been a member of IAIP since 1988. She served as IAIP National President in 2003-2004. Following her Presidency she has continued to work on many State and Regional projects. Over the past 12 years she has expanded her professional career to include Life, Medicare advantage and Medicare supplements and she continues to provide class instructions along with Motivational presentations inside and outside the industry. Cheryl is moving forward with her Ignition Spark program motivating others in driving full speed ahead.

David E. Bridges

David Bridges is an associate in the Catastrophic Loss practice group of Meagher & Geer, focusing on complex civil litigation, including fires, explosions, structural failures, fire protection system failures, product failures and other catastrophic losses and construction-related incidents across the United States. David received his JD degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law. In his undergraduate studies he focused on science, with emphasis on fire protection engineering. He has worked on numerous property loss assignments across the United States, in accordance with his status as an International Association of Arson Investigation Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI). David is also a North Carolina Certified Fire Investigator (CFI). He has received numerous additional certifications for fire and arson investigation, incident responses and training standards. David has several publications on fire claims and investigations.

Nicole Broch, CIC, CISR, PLCS

Nicole Broch spent over a decade as an Independent Insurance Agent and Manager of a successful partnership between a community financial institution and a local independent agency in Springfield, Illinois. She attended The Hartford School of Insurance and achieved her National Underwriter awarded Personal Lines Coverage Specialist (PLCS) designation in 2005. Nicole’s business focus is the ethical sales and service of personal lines, small commercial, and small farm and agri-tourism products. She frequently teaches for the Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois as well as other IIAs and PIAs, insurance carriers, and trade associations throughout the country. Nicole is actively involved in all levels of the International Association of Insurance Professionals (IAIP), the Greenview Community Improvement Association, and other community Boards and committees. Originally from Florida, Nicole has a Bachelors degree in English from Florida State University and a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of South Florida. 

Jane Densch, CPCU, AIC, ARe, ARP, AIS, CPIW

The Exceptional Manager

Jane Densch joined the insurance industry in 1982 as an adjuster with SAFECO Insurance. For nine years, she worked as a claims supervisor and a regional claims technical director responsible for direction on high impact claims. At the time of her retirement in 2011, Jane was a Claims Auto/General Liability Product Director with Fireman's Fund/Alliance. Her role involved leading the A/GL Technical Directors in a cohesive approach to technical claim issues. She initiated a quarterly technical newsletter called Technically Speaking, coordinated monthly technical webinars on emerging claim issues as well as the two-day webinar program Advanced Casualty. Jane has been active in IAIP since 1989. She found chairing IAIP committees and task forces, as well as serving in elected positions in CPCU and IAIP, that she could hone management skills in a “safe” environment, which were easily translated into successful work management skills. She served as IAIP President in 2013-14 and says serving as President is one of her greatest honors.

Danny Douglas has been a member of IAIP for eight years. He is a member of the Insurance Association of the Ozarks from Springfield, Missouri. Danny has received both the Rookie of the Year award and Insurance Professional of the Year award from his local association. He served as the Missouri Council Director for the 2012-2013 year and has served on and chaired many committees on the local and international levels. Danny served as the Regional Vice President for Region V from 2013 to 2015. Danny is employed by American National as the manager of the Underwriting Service Operations Transition Unit. In this role, he is responsible for transitioning several existing books of business to a new policy maintenance system. He is also responsible for the training program for new Client Specialists in the company’s Client Service Center. Danny has taken many IAIP courses and has earned his Supervision Certificate and Management Certificate from the Management Development Institute at Missouri State University. Danny serves on the 2016-2017 Education Task force.

Michael Kersgard is an independent P&C and L&H licensed agent in Texas. He most recently served as the Life and Health Academic Director for The National Alliance for more than six years. In addition to being an independent agent, Michael continues to be a National Faculty Member and Educational Consultant for The National Alliance. During his forty plus years working in the industry, his experience includes Life, Health, and Property and Casualty products in personal lines, commercial lines, and farm/agribusiness. Michael has been involved in a variety of functions including agent, marketing, sales management, and agent training. Through the years he has conducted new agent training schools, continuing education seminars, and license training schools.

Jen Kubiak has been a member of IAIP since 2004 and has served in a number of positions at the local, state, regional and international level. Jen is the co-chair of the YNP Task Force and was the 2016 Region 1 and National YNP of the Year. Jen received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Marketing and is currently a graduate student in Organization Leadership. She works as a Marketing Communications Specialist at Erie Insurance in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Mike McGonigle is a college assistant professor and the director for the Insurance and Financial Services Center at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. He teaches insurance, risk management, and finance classes. Mike earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, and minor in Insurance and Risk Management from New Mexico State University and Masters in Insurance Management from Boston University. Prior to joining the university, Mike worked as a Work Comp Claims Specialist at Liberty Mutual Insurance and a Producer at McGonigle Insurance. He is a recreational FPV drone pilot and general “techie”.

Patty Neil is transformation in action. Howland (Howdy) S. Russell, Jr. currently serves as Vice President of Marketing for Paul Davis. He is responsible for Paul Davis National marketing where its focus and mission is to deliver – nationwide – quality large loss mitigation, restoration and reconstruction services to their customer base: office complexes, warehouses, apartment and multi-family complexes, schools, colleges, industrial plants, regional shopping malls and health related facilities. Howdy is IICRC certified in Water Damage, Mold Remediation, Fire and Smoke Damage, and Carpet Cleaning. He is a frequent speaker to groups of insurance professionals delivering topics from “Ethics for the Insurance Professional” and “How to Handle the Grossly Unsanitary Claim”, to “Mold: A Growing Problem”. He is an approved instructor for Continuing Education Courses in most of the United States.

Chad J. Stepan

Chad Stepan is a partner at Meagher & Geer where he focuses his practice on complex civil litigation, including fires, explosions, structural failures, mechanical failures, product failures and other catastrophic losses and construction-related incidents across the United States. He has handled numerous multi-million dollar claims, including major industrial explosions and fires, and construction and design matters. Chad investigates these incidents and provides defense and recovery representation. This work includes providing professional liability defense for architects, engineers, and other design professionals, as well as defense for contractors, subcontractors, product manufacturers, owners and operators. Chad is an Adjunct Instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD. He is General Counsel for the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI). He is also a guest lecturer for state chapters of the IAAI and at the IAAI International Training Conference. Chad holds industry certifications in Propane (CETP), Proboard Hazardous Materials Technician, Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard and NAFI Fire and Explosion Investigator. Chad earned his JD degree from University of Minnesota Law School.

 

Angie Sullivan AIC, CIIP, CLP

How to Tame your Gremlin

Angie Sullivan has been in the insurance industry for twenty-five years, working in various departments and capacities of the insurance field. She created, developed and facilitated various educational programs for agents and their team members in a six-state area in the mid-West as well as operations center employees in the insurance field across the nation. Angie was variable licensed for her company, holding the Series 6 and 63 license from 1998-2006. She is committed to her personal and professional development through her twenty year membership in IAIP. Angie was a Council Director in Nebraska for two years and the Regional Vice President of Region VII from 2013-2015. She currently serves IAIP as International Vice President. 

Frank Van Zant

Frank Van Zant has served in all areas of the cleaning restoration industry and has been employed with Steamatic for 41 years. For the past 23 years Frank has served as Steamatic's Director of Training and Education. Frank is an Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) Accredited Instructor for the Carpet Cleaning, Fire Damage Restoration, Mold Remediation and Water Damage Restoration courses and holds the Master Certification Designations in Fire, Water Damage Restoration, Textiles and Mold Remediation. Additionally his certifications include ACAC Certified Microbial Remediator and NADCA Air Conveyance Systems Specialist. Frank has participated in the development of these restoration industry Standards: The IICRC/ANSI S500 Water Damage and IICRC/ANSI S520 Mold Remediation Standards, as well as the RIA Advisory Committee on the Fire Damage Standard. Frank is also the national coordinator for Steamatic Continuing Education Courses for the Insurance Industry and has been teaching CE courses for over 25 years.

Brenda C. Lawhorn, CIC, CPIW, AINS, CLP

Brenda began her insurance career with Wright & Company in Washington, DC in November of 1987. Brenda is an Assistant Vice President of Servicing for Walker & Dunlop, LLC. She manages teams in multiple offices that perform the compliance reviews on Freddie Mac, HUD, and Walker & Dunlop’s Interim Loan Program. She also serves as the in-house insurance source for the Fannie Mae and Capital Markets teams. Walker & Dunlop currently services over 6,000 loans totaling over $65 billion in loan values in their servicing portfolio. Brenda has taught licensing classes, and has also taught classes at local, state, and regional meetings and conferences for IAIP. She has served in all positions within IAIP, including Regional Vice President. She holds professional memberships in IAIP, National Association for Female Executives, Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter Society, Professional Liability Underwriters Society and National Association of Professional Women. 

Rae Lynn Zachary, ARM, CPCU, CPIW, DAE, CLP

Rae Lynn Zachary has worked in the insurance industry for almost thirty years. She has been employed by Lockton Insurance Brokers, LLC, in the San Francisco bay area since 2003 and is responsible for managing a number of mid- to large-size domestic and multinational clients, providing for all their property and casualty needs. She specializes in working with not-for-profit organizations, most of which are faith based. In the past she has worked on many other types of programs including clients in the entertainment, manufacturing, property management and direct marketing arenas. She has also done a stint on the mergers and acquisitions side of the business. She is a current member of the San Francisco Insurance Professionals and has served as the chair of their newsletter and technology committee for over ten years. She is also serving as the current Region VII Marketing Director and has served at the council level as the PR Chair in past years.
