"Once again, my IAIP membership has paid off big dividends. I just wanted to share with you my sincere thanks for IAIP and their partnership with The Institutes to offer scholarships to our members. Imagine my surprise and extreme gratitude when I recently learned that I had been awarded a full ACSR Scholarship. I am now beginning the path to attain my Commercial ACSR designation. Budget constraints would have prevented me from continuing my education without this scholarship. I encourage other members to submit their applications for the scholarships offered. You certainly will not win if you don't apply but if you apply, you just may win and be like me embarking on a new education journey. So, thank you IAIP and The Institutes for this wonderful opportunity."

~Teresa S.

"I have several members that have and still do refer to me as their mentor. It is a great feeling to know that you have helped someone, in a small way you have made a difference. I enjoy giving back, teaching and helping in any way possible. I want to be involved, to have the opportunity to see old and new friends. My membership has given me the confidence to step up, the knowledge to contribute, and the desire to share my love for this organization. "

~ retired IAIP member, Geraldine Plott

Networking

“The relationships, education, leadership and networking provided by IAIP help me grow both personally and professionally. IAIP has opened my eyes to the fascinating world of insurance and the endless opportunities within. This organization has enhanced my education, networking and professionalism, while making life-long friendships.”
~Katie S.

“Being a member of IAIP means I have a common language to speak with other members. I may not know them personally, but discovering we share this bond of belonging to this organization often builds a rapport. That sense of rapport usually translates into something that is beneficial not only for me, but for my clients also. I have enjoyed attending various local, council and state conferences. It provides the opportunity to mingle with colleagues, and share ideas for business and the local chapter. Beyond that, it affords me the ability to meet people I might not get to otherwise. Imagine my delight when a new company underwriter comes to pay our agency a visit, and I can look at her and say, ‘How have you been’?”
~Tracy C.

"As a graduate from Indiana State University's IRM program, there is a lot of industry support to students at ISU. I first learned of IAIP and the Indiana associations by way of a scholarship offered to students. After entering the work force, I came into contact with some of the people I had worked with on scholarship drives, and upon joining my current employer I became a member after attending only one meeting. I've renewed my membership because of the great networking."
~Kristen S.

"I believe Church Mutual Insurance Company benefits from its employees being members of IAIP in a couple different ways - first being the education and knowledge we receive by attending our monthly meetings and expanding our knowledge by having speakers. There is always new information being formed for everyone to learn. Second, the networking that pertains to IAIP is a tremendous asset to all members. I have personally become friends with people outside Church Mutual and also within the walls of this building due to my membership with IAIP. I have built up my own confidence in myself and will continue to learn through this organization. After being at Regionals, I felt an even closer bond to fellow members and new bonds to members I was introduced to."
~Kelly D.

Leadership Skills

“As a member of IAIP, I have practiced, developed and acquired leadership skills, enhanced my education through the Certified Leadership Program and other courses and developed a network of risk management and insurance professionals throughout the country. The professional and personal growth I have experienced as a member has been amazing and I look forward to continued growth.”
~Paige S.

"I have gotten leadership opportunities through IAIP that I can bring to my current employer. Through IAIP I have headed up committees and projects, and served in a number of officer roles, including local president. My employer knows I am cultivating leadership skills that might be useful in the office someday. It wasn't until I attended my first Regional that I realized I was part of something great! I was committed to my local association, but attending Regional was so inspiring. As a young professional and a first timer, I was encouraged by this network of strong, successful professionals in my field! I have now had the privilege to have a part in planning both a Regional and a council meeting, and I have met so many more awesome members! There are many places that I can get continuing education, classes or networking opportunities, but when I am with the people at Regional it truly feels like a big family all celebrating each other's successes."
~Stephanie W.

"I had just transitioned to a new career and had heard some talk about IAIP through a few coworkers. I took some interest in the association and was quickly invited to one of the meetings That was all it took for me. I have continued my membership with IAIP for a multitude of reasons…leadership opportunities, educational presentations/seminars, and of course the friendships that I have established. IAIP is not just my association of choice…it is my IAIP family!"
~Jennifer C.

"I find the mentors and members inspiring and want to help reach out to the next generation to utilize the group to its fullest potential. I strongly believe that IAIP shapes character, develops skills and forms the leaders of tomorrow. I am renewing my membership to assist in the development of our local chapter and National Association over time, as I want to have the skills necessary to remain relevant in all aspects of my life. I also cherish the friendships that are forged along the way and want to continue learning about my peers."

~Jennifer M.

Membership in IAIP has afforded me connections and friendships that have been instrumental in my career and professional development. From the support of my local association while I worked toward a bachelor’s degree to the leadership opportunities I’ve enjoyed through my Council and Regional, I wouldn’t be where I am today without IAIP.

~Jennifer K.

Young & New Professionals

“I joined of IAIP in 2009. In the early days of my membership, I wondered if the association was worth the time and money involved. As I became more involved by attending local meetings and branching out into council, regional, and international meetings, I realized that I have the opportunity to receive so much more from this organization than what I’m paying for in my dues. By participating, I have the opportunity to network with peers, but also with carrier, agency, and vendor personnel from every level of their organizations. I have a resource of members available at my fingertips to help me better understand their facet of the industry.

Being shy by nature, I’ve had a hard time socializing and making small talk at industry events. By participating in the “safe” environment offered at my local meetings, and taking classes offered in our association, I was able to build the confidence to go out and attend the larger meetings. In 2012, I started traveling to visit meetings out of state. I’ve attended several meetings where I did not know a single person there before I walked in. By the end, I had a whole new list of contacts, friends, and mentors. I could not have done that without the support and encouragement I received along the way.”
~Vickie H.

“IAIP has provided me with important networking, education, and community contacts. The additional professional resource being a part of IAIP has provided has been the perfect complement to my memberships in designation granting groups and other professional and community associations and organizations. IAIP also allowed me to reach outside of my local area which has opened up new opportunities for sales and involvement that would have otherwise been unavailable. My participation with the Young and New Professional group within IAIP has allowed me to serve in leadership roles for a major international association and has set me on the path to further involvement in international leadership. Lastly, through IAIP’s YNP program, I found a mentor. Taking part in this mentorship has boosted my confidence, knowledge, and – ultimately – my production.”
~Nicole B.

"I wasn't actually recruited. I had moved to CT…and knew nobody. My mom suggested finding a local chapter of IAIP as she had belonged and thought it would be a good way for me to meet people. I went to my first meeting and everyone was super nice. I was asked to replace our current newsletter editor. I said sure and after that I was kind of hooked. Why do I renew? IAIP for me is like air and I do all I can to breathe it in. Every year offers me new opportunities to develop myself and be a better person in my job, my personal relationships, and just in general."
~Victoria L.

"I benefit from the experience of my more "seasoned" members. They have truly been there and done that, so if something comes up at work I can't or don't know how to handle all I have to do is send an email or pick up the phone and someone is there. The personal growth in leadership is a big benefit for me and my employer as well. With leadership you get that "emotional intelligence". It was and is just a very motivating organization for those just starting out, or just looking to always learn and improve."
~Danielle M.

"The company's return in the investment is marketing of West Bend Mutual as a good place of employment and good to their customers, along with strengthening relationships between some of their agents. The CWC class helped many members with there customer service in their jobs to continue the long tradition of good customer service. My employer specifically benefited from the CWC, because I became a better listener, more patient and more confident in my responses to claimants after taking the class. In addition working as membership director, and on the executive board has helped me become better organized, personally and professionally. I am able to run projects on our team and handle the different personalities. Since my area of expertise is worker's compensation claims, the education in other areas such has underwriting and agents, has helped understand how we can all work together. Regional and Council meetings always light my fire. I get new ideas, become more energized and more creative at my job when I return."

"The most significant benefit that I've experienced is the confidence I have gained in myself to take on challenges at work that others shy away from or avoid all together. I love that sense of accomplishment! Attending local meetings gives me a boost that energizes me for the month ahead and when I attend Council, Regional (and the one National) conferences it's a huge lift to my spirit!"

Education Testimonials

Confidence While Communicating (CWC)

“I took the IAIP Confidence While Communicating course approximately 4 years ago. Prior to taking the course, public speaking and presentations created anxiety for me. They were filled with the common jitters, distracting body language, and rambling sentences. By the end of the course, I had come to understand that public speaking is merely a process, and there are methods to prepare you before and during the speech. I became more confident in my public speaking, leading to presentations to the Board of Directors as well as large corporate events. I encourage anyone, particularly those new to their career, to take this course. The results will certainly manifest themselves in future public speaking engagements.”
~ Gene A.

“I want to share my CWC story with you for this is not about me. It is about a journey that we all took together to help develop our confidence while communicating skills. I was surprised at how calm I was at the UFO in Leavenworth when I got up to speak. It was a calmness that was “earned” and “learned” from the trenches of speak-off “boot camp”. I really want to continue giving education outside my company as it is an opportunity to continue to grow in public speaking.”
~ Veronica S.

"My sister is an insurance underwriter with a large insurance company and my sister had never been to an annual convention. My sister attended to support me during my Speakoff. Working for a large company, Sis is aware of the competitive nature in her work environment. During the competition, another contestant had a long pause in speech…. And my sister felt all the people around her inhale – and hold their collective breath. Sis was surprised. EVERYONE in the room wanted the contestant to do her best. Sis was thrilled at how supportive the audience was. The expectation was that being a competition, audience members would want their friend, or local member, or regional winner to be the best. Everyone wanted all of the contestants to do their personal best. The contestant did sail thru the rest of her presentation (and did very well), but the audience reaction – of dozens of people – wishing the contestant every encouragement made a huge impression. As part of my work, I am expected to present insurance information to mostly smaller groups (or a board of directors). CWC is great practice with larger groups. Practice, Practice, Practice! The more you practice, the more comfortable the speaker is with the material – so when you are asked a difficult question in front of a loud group, you are prepared and poised."

Certified Leadership Professionals (CLP)

“It is with great pleasure that I extol the virtues of the CLP program! To quote from a book title by Mark Sanborn, CLP proves that “You Don’t Need a Title to be a Leader”. The CLP program has not only added to my gravitas, but helped me to build on leadership skills already in place and given me a host of additional skillsets I can use in my professional career. The panoply of courses offered take the student on a journey of the various aspects of leadership. The CLP courses I found most compelling were Self-Leadership, Project Management Fundamentals and Speaking under Pressure. I was delighted to see the recommended reading list found in the Speaking under Pressure section included a book that I have long espoused “Speak like Churchill, Stand Like Lincoln” written by James C. Humes. I have read and re-read this book several times. I have given this book to CWC students and encouraged them to read it to help them develop their oratory skills. I encourage all IAIP members to “Go All In” with CLP! The CLP program is probably one of the best I have ever taken. All the information provided was timely and I learned so much about the various aspects of leadership. I think the self- leadership portion of the course was written with me in mind. I related to so much of what was covered in this section and was pleasantly surprised to see much of what was discussed is already part of my DNA!”
~Shirley L.

"IAIP’s CLP course is extremely pertinent to today's professional. It has valuable information that can be used to improve your leadership skills. It is relevant for the young, new professional as well as the seasoned professional. The CLP course gave me renewed excitement and motivation to do what I love the most; mentoring and educating. After completing the course I knew I wanted to take my new skills and use them for the members of IAIP. I decided to announce that I am a candidate for Region III Regional Vice President. My passion is to mentor and educate our future leaders. Education is the key to great leaders."
~Pam H.

“I found the "Negotiating for Results" course of the CLP very interesting and practical. The coursework teaches techniques that I can use in both my professional and personal life. By achieving the CLP designation, I feel more confident in my leadership abilities. I would highly recommend this program for new and experienced leaders. Every aspect of leadership is discussed using practical examples and the information is timely and relevant.”
~Margaret W.

"The CLP Module 'Project Management' was extremely beneficial to me. The course taught me how to identify phases of a project’s life cycle, prioritizing and goal setting. This study material has definitely taught me how to successfully handle a project to its completion."
~Sheree P.

“The CLP courses were very beneficial and provided a lot of great techniques and tools that have enhanced my leadership skills for use in my personal and professional life. The need to develop essential leadership skills and apply them is essential for succeeding in today’s business world. I look forward to moving forward in my career.”
~Cheryl M.

~Sarah Jane J.

"This is an amazing (CLP) program which helped me personally and professionally. I have cut out certain sections of the course guides to hang at my desk to remind me to focus on listening skills."

Diversified Advanced Education (DAE) & Certified Insurance Industry Professional (CIIP)

“Gaining my DAE designation indicates a level of commitment to myself and dedication to my chosen field. It’s allowed me to stretch my wings and challenged me to step into new territories in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Continuing education is the backbone of the DAE designation, through industry courses and IAIP courses. Education equals growth, both personally and professionally. Association participation on multiple levels is also a requirement of the DAE designation and brings its own rewards. The bonds I developed are priceless and the most cherished aspect of earning my DAE.”
~Nancy H.

"Obtaining the CIIP designation is as important as my first designation and all the others that I have obtained over the years. It shows that I am dedicated to this organization and its members."
